Concerns four months of roadworks at a busy industrial estate between Preston and Grimsargh would pile misery on motorists on top of the current Skew Bridge works have been calmed.

A roadworks notification had begun to circulate on social media showing works would be starting on Monday (18 August) until early December at the entrance to Roman Way industrial estate.

Luddon Construction had been granted permission to put in temporary lights as part of work to ‘widen the entrance to Roman Way and realign existing carriageway’.

However Blog Preston has clarified with Lancashire County Council which end of the Roman Way industrial estate this means.

A spokesperson for the county council said: “The roadworks are being carried out as a new layout is being developed for the industrial estate on Roman Way.

“The works are taking place at the opposite end to Longridge Road so will not affect traffic on Longridge Road.”

It follows gridlock earlier this year when long-running temporary lights were put in Longridge Road for electrical works.

Further up Longridge Road and into Preston Road at Grimsargh the work is continuing on the bridge widening project.

Preston Road is closed for three nights overnight from Tuesday 26 August to Friday 29 August while a new mini roundabout is put in place at the junction of Whittingham Lane and Preston Road.

Work on Skew Bridge itself is to continue into November to widen the bridge with temporary traffic lights in place until late October.
