
There are significant delays on the motorway heading northbound, which is having a knock-on effect on the road network around Preston.
The delays begin at junction 32 for the M55 suggesting that the congestion is related to traffic heading to Blackpool for today’s (9 August) Blackpool Air Show.
There are no crashes reported in the immediate motorway network that would otherwise be contributing.

The M6 is congested back to junction 28 for Leyland whereas the M61 is as far back as junction 8 for Bolton.
The southbound carriageway is running smoothly. Traffic England warns that congestion will ease at around 2pm.
There are significant delays elsewhere on the road network as a result of the congestion.
This includes the A6 Lostock Lane and A582 near Bamber Bridge, Station Road in Bamber Bridge, London Way near the Capitol Centre, Victoria Road and London Road, Blackpool Road in Preston, Leyland Road and The Cawsey in Penwortham, Golden Way, Liverpool Road, Watery Lane in Ashton-on-Ribble and Watling Street Road in Fulwood.
