Firefighters cordoned off Butler Street by Fishergate Shopping Centre amid fears about a dangerous structure.

High winds from Storm Floris have been sweeping across Preston throughout Monday (4 August).

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service say they sent two fire crews to ‘reports of a dangerous structure’ in Butler Street.

A spokesperson said: “Upon arrival crews removed an 8ft piece of metal from a roof using the aerial ladder platform, small tools and Milwaukee tools.”

Butler Street was closed off for about half-an-hour while crews worked at the scene to make it safe. It has now re-opened.
