The news that Taylor Swift has a new album coming before the end of the year has already generated a lot of buzz on social media.

On Monday evening, the Grammy winner announced her 12th album The Life Of A Showgirl would be coming later in 2025.

So far, little is known about what Taylor has planned for her next release, but that certainly hasn’t stopped Swifties from speculating and searching for Easter eggs in everything that Taylor has done in the last 18 months.

But our favourite outcome of the announcement is a new meme that has seen people celebrating some of their own personal favourite “showgirls” in light of the I Knew You Were Trouble singer’s new album title…

Taylor has also hinted that The Life Of A Showgirl could mark a reunion between herself and one of her most famous collaborators.

Accompanying the album announcement, the chart-topping star unveiled a Spotify playlist titled “and baby, that’s show business for you…”, which exclusively featured songs of hers that had been co-written or produced by Max Martin.

Max is a Swedish pop powerhouse, who is responsible for some of the biggest hits of the last 30 years, including Britney Spears’ …Baby One More Time, The Weeknd’s Blinding Lights, Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream, Pink’s So What and Ariana Grande’s No Tears Left To Cry, among countless others.

He previously worked on some of Taylor’s signature songs, including I Knew You Were Trouble, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, Shake It Off, Blank Space, Style, Bad Blood and …Ready For It?.

A release date for The Last Showgirl is yet to be announced, but some fans who have now pre-ordered the album have claimed it will be shipped around mid-October, suggesting it will be coming in less than two months.

Taylor’s last studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, was released in April 2024, and was quickly followed by a surprise special edition dubbed The Anthology, which contained an entire album’s worth of extra material.
