A Fulwood man is to stand trial accused of murdering his son three years after the baby’s death.
Police were called to a property on Squires Wood at around 1.30am on June 14, 2022, when it had been reported that a six-week-old baby had been taken to hospital with a head injury.
Huxley Sayle spent one month in hospital but died on July 14 as a result of a traumatic head injury.

Four days after the injury occurred, Huxley’s father Peter Sayle was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding. He was later re-arrested on suspicion of murder and in March 2025 he was charged with that offence.
The 31-year-old first appeared at Magistrates Court the following day and on May 19 he pleaded not guilty to murder at Preston Crown Court.
He will return there for a trial on October 6.
