A London friend of mine once complained to me that, thanks to UNIQLO, everybody, everywhere, is suddenly stylish. True fashionistas are struggling to stand out now that the Japanese clothing brand has brought its affordable and simple everyday essentials to the UK high street, with 14 stores across the capital.

With UNIQLO locations also in the likes of Manchester, Liverpool and Edinburgh, (and more openings in Birmingham and Glasgow soon), Bristolians are next to find out why its budget-friendly, yet high-quality basics have built such a cult following. The brand, which launched 40 years ago, is set to open its first Bristol location at Cabot Circus in 2026.

Alessandro Dudech, COO of Uniqlo UK, said: “UNIQLO remains committed to strengthening its presence within the UK retail sector by expanding both our physical store network and ecommerce capabilities nationwide. As part of this strategic initiative, we are pleased to introduce UNIQLO to the communities and visitors in the South West in at Bristol’s Cabot Circus.”

Taking over the former Topshop site on Brigstowe Street, UNIQLO in Bristol will boast 15,000 sq ft of tradable space across two floors. You’ll be able to get your hands on the full range of men’s, women’s, kidswear and baby clothing, including the UNIQLO LifeWear collections. UNIQLO will be joined incoming additions M&S and Odeon to Cabot Circus

The news comes shortly before the’s opening at Hammerson’s Bullring in Birmingham on October 16.  Paul O’Brien, director of leasing & commercialisation at Hammerson, said: “UNIQLO’s significant investment in both Bullring and Cabot Circus highlights the confidence that leading retailers have in Hammerson, and the un-matched quality of our destinations.”
