A group of female freemasons, who believe in moral and spiritual values, have come together to raise funds in honour of their late member, Dorothy.

Members of the Kirkham area’s Order of Women Freemasons donated £590 to Rosemere Cancer Foundation in a special tribute to their late member, who lived in both Grimsargh and Fulwood.

The Lodge Avenham 184 group, who welcome the Preston and Kirkham community, honoured their friend, Dorothy “Dot” Crean in a fundraiser hosted one year after her passing from ovarian cancer.

Fellow lodge member and best friend of Dot’s for more than 50 years, Sheila Douglas has since contributed to many fundraising events and meetings, following Dot’s passing.

When talking about her experience with the group that fundraised in her mum’s honour, Beth added: “Mum was also a proud and dedicated member of the Order of Women Freemasons, where she built lasting friendships and found a strong sense of belonging.

“Through both of these associations, she formed deep connections that enriched her life and the lives of those around her. Mum lived a full and happy life, filled with laughter, service, and love.”

She added: “She will be remembered with affection and gratitude for the warmth, strength, and friendship she shared so freely.”

Through her twenty years of being a secretary at a Girl Guides group in Grimsargh, along with a working at a school aiding the blind and partially sighted, it remained clear that Dot’s lifelong goal to help others, started from a young age.
