A football team in Fulwood has led the way through delivering a mental health and gambling harm awareness programme to players and staff.
Fulwood Amateurs AFC, located on Lightfoot Lane, teamed up with Beacon Counselling Trust to advocate for mental health growth and reflection.
Being the first grassroots club to attend the training outside of professional academies, the Bet You Can Help programme was delivered to the club by Nicola Jaques MBE from the counselling trust.

The session, attended by Fulwood Amateurs’ first team, coaches and committee members, focused on normalising conversations around mental health and gambling harms and embed mental health aid to football’s culture.
Phil Blackwell the first team coach attended the event: “The training was new for us but if it helps just one person, whether it be in our club or the wider community, then it’s been well worth it.
“We take the well being of everyone within Fulwood Amateurs seriously and are always up for trialling new initiatives. Only positives can come from doing so.“
