This autumn, award-winning British garden designer and BBC Gardeners’ World presenter Adam Frost swaps flowerbeds for the spotlight as he brings his love of plants, people, and storytelling to Scotland. He’ll take to the stage at Edinburgh’s Assembly Rooms on Sunday 26 October for the grand finale of his UK tour.
Fresh from fronting BBC One’s coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show and celebrating the release of his new book, For the Love of Plants: Over 150 plants to bring joy to your garden and your life (DK, March 2025), Adam promises an evening full of inspiration, humour and heartfelt tales.
In his most personal show yet, Adam will reflect on the plants that have shaped his life, his travels around the globe, and the people who have influenced his gardening journey.
As the tour reaches Edinburgh, Adam will no doubt delight in highlighting Scotland’s own unique plant heritage. From the rugged beauty of the Scots pine – Scotland’s national tree – to the purple sweep of heather across the Highlands, the country’s native flora is rich in history and symbolism. The delicate Scottish bluebell, carpeting meadows and hillsides in summer, and the prickly thistle, Scotland’s emblem for centuries, continue to inspire gardeners and nature lovers alike.
For Adam, these plants embody the same principles he celebrates in his work: resilience, character and a deep connection between landscapes and the people who tend them. His Edinburgh audience can expect to hear how such native species not only enrich wild habitats but can also inspire creative and sustainable gardening closer to home.
Adding a new twist, Adam will also share the soundtrack of his gardening life, pairing songs with planting stories. From Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World to Bruce Springsteen’s Secret Garden, music becomes another thread tying together memory, mood and the natural world.
As Adam himself says:
“I cannot wait to get out on the road for my second tour of the UK. The live shows allow you to connect with the audience in a different way. The show will tell stories of gardens, people, music and places. And they will hopefully put a smile on your faces! Look forward to seeing you all there!”
