At just 17-years-old, cyclist, Phoebe Taylor from Inskip claimed two prestigious titles at the UCI Junior Track World Championships in both the Madison and Team Pursuit.
She and her Team GB teammates not only won gold but also set a new world record in the Team Pursuit event.
Phoebe’s cycling journey began in Preston with the Red Rose Olympic CC. When she’s home in the UK, she regularly trains on local roads and often rides the local chain gang. Her incredible talent has now earned her a place on the Team GB Olympic Development Squad.

Phoebe’s dad, Nick Taylor, said: “It’s amazing to think that you can get this far in sport.
“The family have all put a lot into it to support her and everything because we’ve all got to play our part, her mum and me have been driving around and fixing their bikes and everything.”

This year has been a spectacular one for Phoebe. Her impressive medal haul includes:
- Two Gold and two Silver medals at the UK National Track Championships
- European Champion in the Team Pursuit
- World Champion in the Madison
- World Champion and World Record Holder in the Team Pursuit
Her father, Nick Taylor, shared his pride in her incredible journey, he said: “When you start of with your children you think its just a hobby you know and then they get to an achievement like this you think ‘wow’.
“It’s just taking every step as it comes and it’s amazing how time goes quickly. She started when she was about eight and that was nine years ago now.

“We watched one of her events on YouTube Live, we watched it with Phoebes grandparents and I think for them its amazing because obviously as they don’t get to see it as much as we do.
“Now she’s not going against girls from this country, she’s against girls from Australia, Canada and girls from all over Europe where they’re all speaking different languages and things like that, it’s mind boggling really.”
