The council of the Knysna Municipality in the Western Cape says it’s exploring what action to take against the provincial government’s proposal for its dissolution.
This follows the provincial Local Government Minister, Anton Bredell’s announcement that they plan to put the municipality under administration.
This comes after many years of service delivery issues, allegations of financial mismanagement and corruption.
Knysna Mayor, Thando Matika, says in a statement that they fundamentally disagree with the decision because it’s not in the interest of the town and its residents.
