Before July 2025, Brown Oupa Mogotsi was widely regarded in the North West province as a politically connected businessman with significant influence. Known for his proximity to decision-makers and involvement in major deals, he largely operated out of the public eye.
On Friday, his name featured prominently at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
Testifying under oath, KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi says Mogotsi was not only a businessman but also an associate of suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu.
Mchunu had previously denied any association in Parliament, but later acknowledged the link on social media, referring to Mogotsi as his “comrade.”
