There was major disruption on the railway network after a fault to the north of Preston.

A train on the network failed around Oxenholme Lake District on Wednesday evening (3 September) and there was reportedly damage to overhead electric wires. It is not clear if the fault caused the damage to the wires or vice versa.

The disruption was expected to last until the end of the day and Network Rail were at the scene assessing ‘potential damage’ to overhead wires.
