Man to appear in court charged with murder of Gary Carlisle in Ribbleton

A 32-year-old man has been charged with the death of a man in Ribbleton in March.

Gary Carlisle died in hospital a week after being found with serious injuries in Ribbleton Hall Drive.

Preston Police were called to the scene at 6.15am on 12 March.

62-year-old Mr Carlisle was treated at the scene by medical staff but died in hospital on 19 March.

A post mortem examination showed he died as a result of a ‘blunt force head injury’.

A police spokesperson said: “Our thoughts remain with Gary’s loved ones who continue to be supported by specially trained officers.”

A man in his 30s, who has now been named as Jacob Hill, of no fixed address, was arrested near to the scene on suspicion of attempted murder was detained under the Mental Health Act. Police used a taser to detain Hill.

Hill has been charged with murder as well as a charge of with assault occasioning actual bodily harm – police say he assaulted a second man during the same morning as his attack on Mr Carlisle.

He will appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court on Friday (26 September) morning.
