A mother and son from Grimsargh have raised more than £2,000 in memory of a much loved wife, mum and grandma.
Janet Redding, from Longridge, died aged 61 on 14 August, 2024, at St Catherine’s Hospice.
One year on from Janet’s death, her daughter, Emma Hunt, wanted to celebrate her mum’s life with a ‘Bongo Bingo’ event at Longridge Civic Hall and raise money in her memory.
With more than 100 hundred people in attendance, the event raised £1,300. This was split between St Catherine’s Hospice and The Church Lads and Church Girls Brigade, Longridge, which Janet was heavily involved in.
Emma’s son Aiden, eight, has also raised more than £800 after walking and cycling 100-miles during the month of August. This money will go towards Macmillan Cancer Support.

Emma said: “Every seat was filled at the Civic Hall and it was just so nice to remember mum and how loved she was.
“I intend to hold the bingo event every year in her memory and raise money in the process. It would be such a nice way to remember her and all that she did in Longridge.”
Aiden’s fundraising journey saw him cycle from Grimsargh to Avenham Park with his dad, as well as cycling and walking round Cow Hill, before a walk with family and friends that ended at Haighton Manor.
