Plans for 250 affordable homes and a new sports facility on the edge of Longridge have been put forward for public consultation.

The project is being led by Longridge-based SWC and is supported by Preston-based social housing firm Community Gateway Association.

The proposed site of the development is on the corner of Inglewhite Road and Chipping Road, next to Longridge Town Football Club and butting up against one of Longridge Cricket Club’s pitches.

Alongside the homes, the plans include a full-sized artificial pitch for Longridge Town FC; new facilities and a clubhouse for Longridge Town Juniors; a potential new hall for Longridge Gymnastics Club; enhancements to Longridge Cricket Club facilities; additional amenities such as padel courts, a dedicated park run track, improved parking, cycling provision and pedestrian links.

All of these facilities will be made available for community use and SWC owner, Ben Lee, said he was keen to hear the thoughts of Longridge residents.

He said: “As both a Longridge resident and the owner and founder of SWC, I’ve always been proud to support our community, especially our local sports clubs, because I know how important they are to the spirit of Longridge. That same passion for my town is what drives my commitment to help deliver a community-led development that will leave a lasting legacy.

“The Sports Village will not only bring modern facilities to Longridge but also provide around 250 much-needed affordable homes, with options for both older residents and first-time buyers.

“We are excited to share these plans with everyone. I welcome everyone’s feedback and look forward to working closely with the community as they take shape.”

Residents can share their thoughts by 7 October and can do so by visiting the website and filling out a feedback form: www.longridge-sportsvillage.co.uk; emailing longridgesportsvillage@havingyoursay.co.uk; calling the team on 0161 711 0293 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm); or writing to FREEPOST SHAPE TOMORROW.
