A man from Preston has set off on a 50-day cycle challenge all in support of OnSide’s new Youth Zone in Preston City Centre.

Already nearly one month in, Mark Nichols’ Project 161 will test his ability to cycle 1000 miles for the independent charity.

Located near Preston’s Bus Station, Vault Youth zone is set to provide a safe and inspirational space for young children to learn new skills and passions.

After feeling inspired by the founder of the Youth Zones, Bill Holroyd CBE DL, Nichols said this motivated him to raise funds for their Preston project.

He added: “His story was inspiring and once I knew one was coming to my home city, Preston, I had to find a way to raise some vital funds.”

Mark has already started his 50-day challenge and is set for it to conclude on September 30, ending at the Youth Zone facility.

His goal is to raise £1,610 to support the entry fee of the space and to cover basic costs for electricity and running costs.

With an update to his Instagram daily, Mark’s donation page is open here.
