
A procession to mark the birthday of the Prophet Muhammed will close a number of roads across Fishwick, St Matthews and Deepdale during Sunday afternoon.
The parade marks the birth of the prophet Muhammad as part of Eid Milad-un-Nabi which was observed on Friday 5 September and is predominantly celebrated by Shia Muslims.

Rolling road closures will be in place as thousands of people are expected take to the streets for the annual religious procession which has taken place in Preston for more than a decade and sees the parade go between two mosques.
The parade takes place between 2pm and 4.30pm on Sunday (14 September) and goes between Masjid-e-Aqsa in Fishwick Parade to Masjid-e-Noor mosque in Noor Street.
The following roads will be closed
Great Townley Street – from the junction with Fishwick view to the junction with Fishwick Parade
Fishwick Parade – from the junction with Great Townley Street to junction with Scotforth Road
Scotforth Road – from junction with Fishwick Parade to junction with New Hall Lane
New Hall Lane – from junction with Scotforth Road to junction with Skeffington Road
Skeffington Road – from junction with New Hall Lane to junction with Castleton Road
Castleton Road – from junction with Skeffington Road to junction with Holmrook Road
Deepdale Road – from the junction with Holmrook Road to junction with Argyll Road
Argyll Road – from the junction with Deepdale Road to junction with St Paul’s Road
St Paul’s Road – from junction with Argyll Road to junction with Noor Street
Noor Street – from junction with St Paul’s Road to junction with Stanleyfield Road

Preston City Council has the following diversion routes in place:
- Fishwick View, Samuel Street, Fishwick Parade and vice versa.
- Fishwick Parade, Fishwick Road, New Hall Lane, Waldon Street and Fishwick Parade.
- New Hall Lane, Fishwick Road, Fishwick Parade and vice versa.
- New Hall Lane, Stanley Street, Ribbleton Lane, Ribbleton Avenue, Blackpool Road, New Hall Lane and vice versa.
- New Hall Lane, Blackpool Road, St Gregory Road, Skeffington Road and vice versa.
- Skeffington Road, St Gregory Road, Blackpool Road, Ribbleton Avenue, Ribbleton Lane, Deepdale Road, Castleton Road and vice versa.
- Deepdale Road, Sir Tom Finney Way, Blackpool Road, St Gregory Road, Skeffington Road, Castleton Road and vice versa.
- Deepdale Road, Ribbleton Lane, Ribbleton Avenue, Blackpool Road, Sir Tom Finney Way, Deepdale Road and vice versa.
- Deepdale Road, St George’s Road, St Paul’s Road and vice versa.
- St Paul’s Road, St George’s Road, Deepdale Road, Meadow Street, St Paul’s Road and vice versa.
- St Paul’s Road, Meadow Street, Stanleyfield Road and vice versa
A one-way traffic restriction in Stanleyfield Road will be suspended during the parade to allow vehicles through.
