Illegally modified e-bikes and e-scooters have been seized by police after an operation in Preston city centre.
Officers were out in force during Friday 24 October and have taken 24 of the vehicles off the city’s streets.
The majority of the vehicles were taken away for not having insurance of a licence and a moped driver also had their vehicle seized for driving in an anti-social manner.

Roads policing inspector Dean Skelton said: “Not only are these e-bikes and e-scooters used illegally, often without the correct insurance or a license, but they are also being ridden in town centres and in a dangerous manner, which puts other road users and members of the public at risk.
“We regularly carry out operations like this one to tackle these vehicles. It is not about taking away someone’s mode of transport, it is about keeping the rider and members of the public safe, as well as hindering those who use these bikes for criminal activity such as drug dealing.
“I hope this shows the residents of Preston that we are listening to your concerns, we are taking action, and we will continue to do so.”
Anyone who wants to report nuisance vehicles such as e-bikes, e-scooters or quad bikes being ridden in public areas can report the incidents online via the Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner’s website.
Information can also be passed to independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111. You can also call police on 101 or 999 in an emergency.
