1. FEAR Scream Park

The South West’s award-winning scream park, FEAR Scream Park, is back with a mix of immersive horror theatre and classic fun-fair thrills on Friday, October 10. With a festival-style atmosphere, this year’s scream park introduces a brand-new, headline maze, aptly named Seeds of Evil—an ode to all things Halloween! But with six themed shows each night, across the site’s two zones, as well as immersive scare zones, fire and laser performances, aerialists, roaming characters, thrill rides, shock chairs and more, scares and surprises are lurking around every corner.

2. Motion

No, I’m not losing it. Yes, Motion closed in July. But the world-famous nightclub is back! At a new home in St Phillips, the Victoria Terrace space will host a new event series “championing local artists and independent brands” starting this weekendkicking off on Friday, October 17, with Tottenham native DJ AG, followed by Bradley Zero, founder of Rhythm Section, Berlin-based Gabrielle Kwarteng, and the soulful UK twist of Wallace, on Saturday, October 18.

3. Circus City

Run away with the circus (from October 9 to 30) with a mix of bold physical theatre performances and workshops. Circus City celebrates Bristol as “the UK’s city of circus”. Events this weekend include: Nikki & JD Lost Dog at The Trinity Centre (Friday, October 17) and Heart of BS13 (Saturday, October 18) with an outdoor show that combines circus, dance, theatre and live music for an original horror story; Diana Salles‘ “heart-stopping circus show unravelling the profound beauty of self-discovery on a trans woman’s path” (Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18) at Circomedia; and acrobatic duo Alta Gama present an intimate, immersive 360 show with a bicycle (Saturday, October 18) at Malcolm X Centre.

4. Margaret Thatcher: Queen of Soho

Loathe or loathe her, The Iron Lady was an unstoppable force in this country. So what better way to celebrate her 100th birthday than with a smash hit drag extravaganza!
