Parliament’s Ad hoc committee investigating police corruption had to adjourn for a while following a heated dispute over the procedural status of KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi’s appearance.

Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema and other MPs led the charge, insisting that Mkhwanazi must take a formal oath before answering any questions.

Malema argues that without sworn testimony, the committee’s work would lack credibility and legal standing. He also criticises the committee for failing to enforce its authority.
