Multiple people injured after shots fired in Croydon Park

A man has been arrested after multiple people were injured in a shooting incident Sydney's inner west tonight.

Streets in Croydon Park were sent into lockdown and residents were being told to stay inside after police were called to Georges River Road, near the intersection of Brighton Avenue, about 7.45pm.

"A police operation is under way at Croydon Park after shots were fired," NSW Police said.

A man in his 50s presented to Canterbury Hospital with a gunshot wound before being transferred to the Royal Prince Alfred, NSW Ambulance said.

Three people presented to Campsie Police Station with minor injuries: a man and a woman, both in their 30s, who were taken to Canterbury Hospital, and a woman in her 50s.

A man in his 40s suffered facial injuries while sheltering behind glass and was also taken to the RPA.

Five other patients were being assessed at the scene, NSW Ambulance said.

About 9.30pm, a man was arrested in a building on Georges River Road and firearms have been seized, police said.

Roads remained closed in the area.
