Organisers of Garstang Show are looking to the future with optimism after buying the main show field.

Held just off Green Lane East on Garstang’s eastern edge, the history Garstang and District Agricultural and Horticultural Society, as well as the show itself, dates back more than 200 years.

The announcement was made at the society’s last committee meeting where chair, Helen Hands, confirmed that the society had completed the acquisition.

“This is a hugely significant moment for the Society,” she said. “We are now the proud owners of the show field, which is at the very heart of the Garstang Show. It means we can protect the event’s future for many years to come.”

The news was met with warm applause from members, recognising the importance of securing permanent ownership of the land.

The move ensures long-term stability for the show, which is one of the area’s most popular annual events, drawing crowds from across Lancashire and beyond. With both the show field and the existing car park field now under the Society’s ownership, organisers say the future of the event is firmly rooted in the community.

Further details about upcoming plans will be announced in due course.

Next year’s show is set to be held on 1 August, 2026, and is a celebration of farming and rural life.
