Police searching around the river at Garstang on Monday afternoon were able to confirm a false alarm.
Officers from Lancashire Constabulary were called to the River Wyre in Garstang this afternoon (6 October) to reports of a concern welfare.
They attended and conducted a thorough search. They were able to confirm that nobody was in any danger but added that the report was made ‘in good faith’.

Blog Preston understands that concerned members of the public believed police may have been in attendance in relation to missing pensioner George Norwell but that was not the case.
There has been a large-scale emergency services search as police attempt to fine missing 77-year-old George Newell who was last seen in Swift Close in Whittle-le-Woods.
That has included assistance from Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service and HM Coastguard.
