Preston Rotary group fund ambulance to aid Ukraine civilians

Following a talk about his work in Ukraine to Preston South Rotary Club members in April, Reverend Bernard Cocker set the group a challenge.

The team was inspired to set a target to raise money for the purchase and delivery of a second-hand ambulance to the Ukrainian border.

Only a few months into fundraising, Preston South Rotary successfully purchased the aid vehicle.

Leaving from Rotterdam to Ukraine, Rotarian Alan Atkinson and his daughter Jane Atkinson will share the 1,200km drive.

The group, who meet twice a month at Penwortham Golf Club, helped not only purchase the vehicle, but also carry out repairs to send it on its way late last week.
