There’s not long left to wait now. Soon, the whole of the UK transforms into a twinkly, glittery, magical festive paradise—and, if you’re anything like me, you’re counting down the days until the return of Britain’s Christmas markets. While some can take over a city centre for almost two months, others cram a Santa’s sleigh’s worth of mulled wine, Yorkshire pudding wraps, and stocking fillers into a couple of weeks, but we love them all the same. Every one of these Christmas markets from across the UK is worth a visit this season.
1. Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market
Birmingham’s is one of the biggest among the UK Christmas markets and provides seven weeks of festive cheer on New Street and Victoria Square, so you’ve got no excuse not to visit. In fact, Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market is the largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany and Austria. Pick up everything from bratwurst and Glühwein to wooden toys and glass baubles from over 100 stalls, but be warned, it can get busy—it attracts around 5.5 million visitors every year!

2. Manchester Christmas Markets
Spanning the whole of the city centre, Manchester Christmas Markets welcome the festive fun to Albert Square for the first time since 2019, alongside multiple other locations. Known as ‘A Taste of Christmas’, the festive event will host everything from a 50-metre-high Ferris wheel to a vintage carrousel and other Christmas fairground-style attractions, as well as iconically Christmassy wooden chalets selling must-have crafts, gifts, and goodies, and walk-through installations lighting up the streets.
Manchester’s Christmas Markets will open on Friday, November 7, and close on Monday, December 22, except for ‘A Taste of Christmas’ on Albert Square and the stalls at Cathedral Gardens, which will remain open until January 4, 2026.
3. Bath Christmas Market
Bath is a pretty magical place throughout the year, but when its gorgeous Georgian streets fill up with adorable wooden huts for just two weeks at Christmas, few can match the double-UNESCO World Heritage Site’s festivities. Immensely popular, with a limited run, it’s adored for its support for independent sellers from the South West—and this year, it celebrates its 25th anniversary with a reindeer trail around the market!
Bath Christmas Market runs from November 27 to December 14.
4. Blenheim Palace
Most of the UK’s best Christmas markets can be found in the heart of cities and towns. But this dreamy offering at Churchill’s ancestral home offers a village of traditional wooden chalets with a drop-dead gorgeous stately home as its backdrop. Plus, Blenheim Palace also has its own charming Christmas lights trail, ice rink and observation wheel, and a ‘Wizard of Oz’-themed experience—follow the yellow brick road to the Emerald City, where Dorothy awaits, through the Palace rooms.
Blenheim Palace hosts Christmas from Friday, November 14, to Sunday, December 21.
5. Glasgow Christmas Markets
Up in Scotland, Glasgow is switching things up this year with George Square under renovation until next year. But it looks like St Enoch’s Centre and Glasgow Green will become the city’s Christmas heartbeat, instead, with the team behind M&D’s theme park running the show.

6. Liverpool Christmas Market
With the stunning backdrop of St George’s Plateau and William Brown Street, Liverpool Christmas Market has its very own Alpine Village this year—full of plenty of Alpine-style foods (like German sausages and pretzels) and a Bar Hutte serving mulled wine—you can even belt out some Mariah with Christmas karaoke! Just don’t forget to tuck into mouthwatering Yorkshire pudding wraps or pick out the perfect present with tons of lovely gift stalls available.
Liverpool Christmas Market runs from November 15 to December 24.
7. Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market
Ready to celebrate Exe-mas in the West Country? The lovely UK Christmas market, right in front of the historic Exeter Cathedral, champions local Devon producers on the Green. Packed full of regional crafts and gifts, as well as an unmissable food village, you won’t find a better mulled cider anywhere else in the country!
Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market runs from Thursday, November 20, to Friday, December 19.
8. York Christmas Market
Just like Bath, York has an evergreen charm, but it really comes alive at Christmastime. The iconic alpine chalets return to Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square for a cosy affair, with the introduction of a ‘quiet oasis’ this year at St Sampson’s Centre, where visitors can take a break from the crowds. With an array of local traders and artisan products on show, everything from luxury stationery to Yorkshire pudding beer, you can pick out some pretty unique gifts at York Christmas Market’s festive wonderland.
York Christmas Market runs from November 13 to December 21.
9. Bristol Christmas Market
Spread over Broadmead, Bristol Christmas Market offers over 40 unique stalls to browse for traditional gifts and seasonal treats, alongside numerous bars and food vendors. The Jäger Barn Bar will be well stocked with German Glühwein and boozy hot chocolates, as well as live music from a variety of local performers. But visit the brand-new Glissè Bar for a more intimate setting. You can also expect multiple appearances from Santa himself, as well as elves on stilts and performances from Christmas choirs.
Bristol Christmas Market runs from Friday, November 7, to Tuesday, December 23.
10. East Princes Street Gardens Christmas Market
Edin-brrrr might be cold at Christmas, but a warm welcome awaits all who make the journey. East Princes Street Gardens Christmas Market is the quintessential Christmas market, full of around 80 huts selling handmade gifts, bespoke products, and tasty treats. Expect the grand return of festive favourites, like Scotland’s largest Ferris wheel to Edinburgh and the Family Funfair on West Princes Street Gardens. Plus, find a Winter Garden at St Andrew Square, an ice rink on George Street and an artisan Christmas market on Castle Street.

11. Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market
Home to more than 100 chalets, everything from hand-crafted decorations and festive treats to craft beer and mulled wine, find one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in the UK on the grounds of the 1,000-year-old cathedral. With Winchester Cathedral itself home to Christmas services and carol concerts, on top of the city’s annual lantern parade (Monday, November 24), there’s nothing quite like the once capital of England’s Christmas celebrations.
Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market runs from November 21 to December 22.
12. Hyde Park Winter Wonderland
Talking of the country’s capital, you didn’t think we’d leave London out, did you? While we could write a whole Christmas market roundup for the Big Smoke (and have), Hyde Park Winter Wonderland is pretty unmatched. It’s basically a massive winter fairground for adults with over 150 rides and attractions, alongside a huge gift-filled market and the UK’s largest open-air ice rink.
From the largest free Santa’s Grotto to the Après-Ski themed village and the Magical Ice Kingdom attraction with over 500 tonnes of ice and snow, Secret London’s very own Sam Barker called it “the most Christmassy Christmas event possible.” The downside, you need tickets, but these range from free at off-peak times to £7.50.

13. Nottingham Winter Wonderland
Nottingham’s annual Christmas market and funfair bears a few similarities to the Winter Wonderland in London. Look out for the ice rink and ice bar, located in the Old Market Square, alongside a huge range of food and craft stalls, and an observation wheel and toboggan slide to add a little fun to the festivities.

14. Chester Christmas Market
Chester Christmas Market brings over 70 traders to the Town Hall Square this winter. Pick up anything from mulled wine and hog roast baps to handmade jewellery and clothing at the charming, historic city. Every year, at the heart of the market sits an iconic Christmas tree, surrounded by Alpine-style chalets and sparkly fairy lights, against a backdrop of unique architecture. Undeniably, one of the loveliest Christmas markets in the UK!
Chester Christmas Market runs from Wednesday, November 19 to Monday, December 22.
