With over 18,000 volunteers in the UK, the trust’s Preston team currently help 13 owners, but are especially struggling to meet the needs of a dog owner in Bamber Bridge.

For the owner the dog walking support timings and number of days needed are flexible, like the whole trust’s volunteer job requirements.

Sally from The Cinnamon Trust said: “ Without the help of our fantastic volunteers The Trust  would not be able to offer the support and care to elderly and terminally ill pet owners that we do.

“Teams of volunteers take it in turn to visit housebound owners to take the dog for a walk, volunteers foster pets as one of their family when owners face a spell in hospital or respite care, they take pets to the vet, even clean out the budgie’s cage or cats litter trays.”

She continued: “Our forever foster volunteers open their homes and hearts to pets whose owners have made arrangements with the trust to look after their beloved companion animals should they no longer be able to do so themselves.

“They live as part of the volunteers family but remain under the guardianship of the trust and all the vets bills are covered by the trust.”
