Woman evacuated from flat after fire started by fireworks in Ingol incident

An investigation is under way after a woman’s flat porch reportedly caught fire after being struck by fireworks.

Officers from Lancashire Constabulary and crews from Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service were called to Westbrook Crescent in Ingol at around 5.41pm on Monday evening (27 October) to reports of a fire.

Witnesses reported that youths using fireworks had sent them in the direction of a woman’s flat, with her porch alight as a result.

Police said that no arrests have been made and that no injuries were reported but added that the incident is under investigation.

It is understood the woman who lives in the flat was evacuated to stay with a family member.

Two fire engines were called to the scene and crews were in attendance for around an hour and a half.
