SAPS Chief Financial Officer, Puleng Dimpane, says it is shocking that Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, who is now on special leave, used an internal information note of the budgetary operations as his evidence for the disbandment of the KwaZulu-Natal Political Killings Task Team.
During his evidence before the Ad Hoc Committee, Mchunu highlighted the information as the basis for his decision to disband the task team.
He stated that he received a note from Dimpane, but she vehemently denies this.
“Perhaps even before I even go to my comment, I wish to state that I did not give anyone permission to utilise that information note. That information note was an information that (was) requesting funding from the project leader to the national commissioner and it came to my table to confirm if the funding was available. I was shocked to hear about that information note being utilised in evidence in this regard,” she says.
