A new exhibition in Preston is celebrating the rituals, friendships, and joy of a matchday.
Journeys to the Match is the latest Preston-based exhibition from the National Football Museum to go on display at Lancashire Archives in Bow Lane.
A community-focused collection, it explores the everyday traditions of football fans and what makes their matchday special.
From a deep dive into the transport that fans have taken through the years, to lucky charms and matchday mates, Journeys to the Match celebrates the simple joys that unite all fans, no matter which teams they support.
The exhibition features Lancashire-themed objects from the National Football Museum collection, stories and memories from supporters, and some fantastic photography from travelling fans.

Also on display is an interactive map created by local illustrator Georgia-Maia, which features football grounds including Wham Stadium in Accrington, Mazuma Mobile Stadium in Morecambe and, of course, Deepdale Stadium in Preston. Visitors can move magnets across the map to symbolise their own journeys.
The Journeys to the Match exhibition is on at Lancashire Archives until Friday 8 May 2026. Visiting times are Tuesday to Friday, 9.30am to 5pm, and Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
