Temperatures are set to drop overnight again as gritters prepare to roll on the city’s rolls.

The Met Office has issued an ice warning as rain is expected during Saturday evening until temperatures then fall away.

Clear, crisp, conditions through until 6am on Sunday (30 November) mean icy conditions are due.

The ice warning, set at the lowest level, runs from 10pm on Saturday (29 November) until 9am on Sunday.

Injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces are possible and motorists are being warned of icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “Following rainfall earlier in the evening, surface temperatures are expected to fall widely below freezing. With surfaces left wet, ice is expected to form on untreated surfaces and may lead to hazardous travelling conditions.”

A separate weather warning is in force from first-thing on Monday (1 December) until 3am on Tuesday (2 December) as heavy rain is expected to sweep into the city.
