Preston fell silent as Armistice Day was marked in the annual service at the Flag Market.

The Mayor of Preston, councillor Sue Whittam, led the service as wreaths were laid at the Cenotaph.

She and other dignitaries were watched by a group of children from St Theresa’s Catholic Primary School in Fishwick and St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Deepdale.

The Last Post was sounded as part of the service which followed on from Sunday’s main Remembrance parade.
