Preston gathered to pay respects on the Flag Market as veterans, armed forces personnel and civic and political dignatries joined to remember the fallen.

Despite damp conditions a parade marched from outside the Bus Station to the area outside the Cenotaph.

Crowds watched on from across the Flag Market and from the newly re-opened Harris Museum balcony as wreathes were laid for Remembrance.

The city’s MP Mark Hendrick along with the Mayor of Preston laid wreathes along with representatives from the city council, county council and various armed forces groups.

Leader of the city council, councillor Matthew Brown, said: “Another excellent turnout in Preston for Remembrance Sunday. Remembering all those killed and injured during war and conflict and praying for a future involving justice and peace.”

A separate service will take place on Tuesday (11 November) at 11am at the Cenotaph to mark Armistice Day.

Mick Porter was there earlier on the Flag Market with his big coat on to capture the pictures below of the poignant Remembrance service.
