African National Congress NEC member Mmamoloko Kubayi has warned against leaders who are detached from reality but only want to contest power.
Kubayi was delivering a keynote address on the first day of the 7th ANC Nelson Mandela Regional Conference at the Nelson Mandela University.
The conference has been postponed many times due to branch disputes.
Kubayi says the ANC needs to go back to basics and solve community issues.
“Sometimes I say this thing, but I don’t know how you say you are a leader of society when your own city doesn’t know that we’re of ANC. When your own ward does not know that you hold a position of power in the ANC, but you call yourself leaders of society. But you are not active on anything from the ANC. You are not found on anything that deals with issues society expects from the ANC.”
