A large but unspecific number of homes in South Ribble were without water due to a burst pipe.
Homes in Lostock Hall and Penwortham reported being either without water or with low water pressure on Monday morning (3 November).
Residents were warned that water may be discoloured due to historical sediments in the water pipe but United Utilities said they were ‘unlikely to be harmful’ and that keeping the cold water tap open at a trickle would likely clear the problem.

The issue has come from a burst water pipe on Victoria Road. There is no estimated time for repairs to be completed but work is expected to start soon.
An update on the United Utilities website said: “Just to let you know, we’ve found the cause of no water or low pressure to be a burst on Victoria Road. Now that we’ve identified the cause of the problem, our team will assess the issue and start the repair work shortly. Thank you for your patience.”
One resident in Lostock Hall told Blog Preston: “It’s a big area affected apparently. All I know is I didn’t shower yesterday.”
