Local Egyptologist and poet Molly Osborne will continue bringing ancient history to life in Preston following a successful launch.
Osborne Arts creative talks and workshops blend art, history, and storytelling to create engaging events for all ages.
The first talk, The Ancient Egyptian’s Guide to Having Fun, introduced audiences to how people in ancient Egypt spent their free time — complete with the chance to play and buy versions of ancient board games.
This was followed by Magic in Ancient Egypt, a drop-in event exploring spells, wands, and link with the board game Senet, where visitors could learn about ancient beliefs and design their own magical creations to take home.

Now, Molly is turning her attention to the afterlife with two themed events taking place this November at Chew’s Yard.
On Saturday 15 November, a kids workshop will invite children to make their own clay shabti figures and miniature coffins, learning about how the ancient Egyptians prepared for the afterlife. Then, on Wednesday 26 November, Molly will deliver a talk titled From Tomb to Display – The Journey of Swansea’s Shabtis.
Looking ahead, December will bring a festive twist with a Saturnalia-inspired event celebrating the ancient Roman festival of mischief and merriment.

Molly said: “It’s been amazing seeing how many people want to learn about ancient history in creative, hands-on ways. Each event feels like a conversation between the past and present — and Chews Yard has been such a brilliant home for that.”
Molly also recently launched a newsletter, featuring details of future talks and workshops plans — including the 2026 series, which explores new themes from ancient Egyptian art, myth, and daily life.
