Preston band Lythium are set to play a free hometown headline show following the release of their new single.
The alt-rock band is made up of four Preston locals – Kasra on vocals, Hazel on bass, Jimi on guitar and Chris on drums. They began working together in 2022 when Chris joined, and became a four-piece in July 2024.
Although each member has been active in the North West music scene for more than a decade in various projects, their musical influences range widely – from George Michael to Nothing But Thieves, and Jimi Hendrix to Rammstein.
Jimi told Blog Preston: “We believe this contributes to the ethos of the band, which is to create new and original music that is simultaneously unique and recognisable.”

Their new single Help Me, recorded by Cain Audio in Liverpool, is accompanied by a full-length music video.
“It’s already received some great reviews, being praised for its huge riffs, powerhouse vocals, and emotional rawness,” said Jimi. “The video features local pro wrestlers fighting each other while we perform in the ring.
“We hope the song and video are enjoyed by everyone who experiences them – that’s the dream for everything we create.”
Lythium rehearse at Gem Studios off London Road and have played numerous venues across the North West, including Grand Central in Manchester, Sunbird Records in Darwen and The Ferret here in Preston.
They return to Vinyl Tap for their next gig on Saturday 29 November.
Jimi said: “We’ve managed to create about an hour-and-a-half of music that we are incredibly excited to be showcasing, especially after taking time away from the stage. We love performing our own music to a live audience.”

The band have been recording more tracks in recent months and are looking forward to performing them live at more venues.
Looking ahead, Lythium aren’t shy about their ambitions.
“We’d love to record an album with legendary musicians and producers, go on an international tour, and play venues like The Bataclan in Paris or Red Rocks in Colorado with local acts supporting,” said Jimi.
“And ultimately, we’d like to make a living from this – a difficult but worthwhile goal that would allow us to create and perform music together full time.”
