Preston’s Christmas lights are officially on and this year they were switched on by Debbie Meade McLoughlin from local charity Jade’s Bags.

Jade’s Bags was founded in 2022 following the loss of Debbie’s daughter Jade. They are dedicated to supporting the community and provide patient essentials to Royal Preston Hospital, food bags to families, essentials to the homeless and support for women’s refuges.

They were chosen by the Preston public through Blog Preston’s competition with the BID.

Mark Whittle, from Preston BID, said: “As always, Preston and the city centre businesses delivered. The crowd at the Flag Market was one of the biggest we have seen in years and the entertainment on stage was brilliant.

“A huge thanks to everyone who came down to enjoy the event, our performers, sponsors and of course, city centre businesses, who make sure events like this are possible.
