A recent cheque handover celebrated £260,000 raised by a Preston Hindu Temple for underprivileged girls in India.
The money raised was through a seven day long Bhagwat Katha event held for members of the Hindu community at the South Meadow Lane temple to contribute to the Girl’s Hostel Project.
Joined online by scholar and leader of this initiative Pujya Bhaishri Rameshbhai Oza, members from Preston joined on 8 November to celebrate over quarter of a million raised.

Known for his vision of “Education for All,” Pujya Bhaishri has already established numerous schools and initiatives in the rural state of Gujarat in India.
He is now focusing on the rural area of Saputara, where educational facilities are scarce.

Bhaishri hopes to help with the construction of a Girl’s Youth Hostel to provide shelter, food, and education for underprivileged girls.
£260,000 was dedicated to the Girls’ Hostel project and as of this week has been handed over in a cerenomy to the Sanskruti Foundation UK.
The awards ceremony on 8 November consisted of cultural entertainment, lunch, and the 150 attendees received a video message from Pujya Bhaishri.
