Communities across Preston, South Ribble and Chorley will fall silent on Remembrance Day in honour of people who served in the armed forces.
Parades and ceremonies of armed forces members, both current and veterans, along with cadets, dignitaries and others will take place on Sunday 9 November.
They will walk around several locations, including the Flag Market, Astley Park and Civic Centre.

In Preston City Centre, the remembrance service will run between 11am to 1pm, starting fromPreston Bus Station and ending at the Flag Market.
At the end of Sunday’s service, the Mayor of Preston and community members will gather around the Cenotaph, and there’ll be an opportunity for the public to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph.

Which roads will be closed in Preston?
The following roads are to be shut from 9am to 1pm on Remembrance Sunday.
Tithebarn Street – from junction with Old Vicarage to junction Lord Street
Lord Street – full length
Lancaster Road – from junction with Old Vicarage to junction with Church Street
Church Street – from junction with Lancaster Road to junction with Fishergate
Fishergate – from junction with Church Street to junction with Cheapside
Cheapside, Market Place, Market Street, Earl Street, Birley Street, Jacson Street and Harris Street – full lengths
What’s the parade route?

Are there other services in Preston?
A Remembrance Sunday parade and service is due to take place in Broughton at the war memorial.
Garstang Road between the James Towers Way junction to a point 500 metres south of the Woodplumpton Lane junction near the village’s war memorial.
The road closure is in place from 12.00am to 1.30pm.

South Ribble
A Remembrance Sunday parade, followed by a short service at the Cenotaph, and a service at St Mary’s Church, is due to take place in Leyland.

The itinerary from 10.30am to 11.45am
10:30am
The parade will leave the Civic Centre and proceed along Lancaster Gate, turn right onto Tesco Car Park to the far end and turn towards the Leyland Cross.
The parade will holt at the Cenotaph for a short service.
11:30am
Parade will leave the Cenotaph and parade back along St Andrews Way to St Mary’s RC Church.
11.45am
Enter St Mary’s Church for a service of Remembrance.
South Ribble Borough Council will also support the Lostock Hall Remembrance service running from 10.30am to 4.05pm.

Chorley
A Remembrance Sunday parade and service is due to take place at the Cenotaph at Astley Park.

The Parade will set off from St Thomas’s Road and makes it way directly to the Cenotaph in Astley Park via Market Street and Park Road

Remembrance Service commences at the Cenotaph

Two minutes’ silence
11.15am
When the service and wreath laying have concluded, the parade will return to the Town Hall. The return route from the park gates is: turn right into Park Rd, left into Union St, right into Cleveland St, right into High St and right into Market St
11.30am
The uniformed groups will form a guard of honour for the Mayor in front of the Town Hall
11.35am
After the Mayor has taken the salute, the civic party followed by the rest of the parade will enter the Town Hall.
