One of Preston’s busiest junctions has seen delays throughout Wednesday and these will continue during Thursday morning and lunchtime.

Lancashire County Council has put temporary traffic lights in place at the Ring Way, Church Street and Stanley Street junction near to HMP Preston.

Repairs are needed after a crash involving a driver striking an electrical supply box which powers the traffic lights during Wednesday (5 November) lunchtime.

The lights at the junction were upgraded in April as part of a major replacement of out-dated traffic signals.

A spokesperson for the county council said: “If you’re travelling in the Preston area please be aware of potential delays following damage to a key set of traffic lights.

“We’re planning to carry out repairs tomorrow (Thursday), however the temporary lights will still be in place for the morning rush hour. We’re hoping the permanent lights will be working again early afternoon.”
