A touching moment between a couple who are affected by dementia has sparked a Christmas single campaign by the SpudBros and Vicky McClure.
Announced during the city’s Christmas lights switch on the jacket potato sensations are teaming up with the Dementia Choir.
As well as the track, Brighter Than The Night, the Nelson brothers are also introducing the SpudX Festive Spud across all their outlets with both the potato and the music aiming to raise funds to support those living with dementia.

SpudBros said the idea for the campaign began when they served an elderly couple at the Preston tram where a woman is on a trip out with her husband who talks about her battle with Alzheimers while picking up one of the last spuds of the day on the Flag Market.
Jacob and Harley Nelson said the launch of the Christmas campaign was deeply personal to them as their grandmother lives with dementia.
The Preston-based brothers said: “We still can’t believe how far this has come from two lads in a tram in Preston. Working with Our Dementia Choir and Vicky McClure has been incredible, and SpudX really sums up who we are as a brand: good food, good vibes and giving back. This Christmas, we just want to spread as much joy as possible.”

The single is due out on Friday 12 December and will include a full animated music video by Preston-born animator Chris Tootell of Drawing Board Studios.
The track, produced by Jayne Collins and is written by Anthony Llewellyn and performed by the SpudBros’ Huw Roberts as well as members of the Our Dementia Choir who recorded it at Metropolis Studios and was mixed at Abbey Road Studios.

Our Dementia Choir shot to fame in 2019 when they were brought together for the TV show with Vicky McClure in her hometown of Nottingham.
She said: “I’m so excited SpudBros have teamed up with Our Dementia Choir, not only is the song so heartfelt and Christmassy but everyone involved is on the same mission to help people live well with dementia, through music and the best spuds in town! Please support and Merry Christmas!”
The single is available to pre-order and is also available for sale on all major streaming platforms priced £1.29.
