When is enough enough when it comes to Christmas lights? Well, for this Winterbourne family, seemingly never! This house’s decorations get bigger and brighter every year (I wouldn’t want to be their neighbour), featuring over 150,000 lights.

Winterbourne Wonderland returns for a fifth year, supporting The Grand Appeal and Suicide Prevention UK, with all proceeds being split equally. Last year, it raised over £15,000, bringing its total to £25,900 since 2021. Expect bright lights, festive aromas, music and bubbles as it tries to smash that amount this time.

The 2024 display saw the introduction of moving ‘Elf on the Shelf’ characters, fluttering butterflies in the Enchanted Forest, as well as the return of the magical wishing well and colour-changing fountain. The magic only steps up once again this Christmas. This year’s display adds interactive buttons—including voice-activated, motion-reactive and action-based triggers

When does it switch on?

The big switch-on takes place on Saturday, November 22, with three separate switch-ons at 5pm, 6pm and 7pm to help manage visitor numbers. The lights will be turned off again at 5:30pm and 6:30pm. After the 7pm switch-on, the lights will stay on until 9pm.

The display will then open daily from Sunday, November 23, to Sunday, January 4 (4:30pm to 9pm). There will also be special events, including Christmas music playing on selected dates, mascot visits and more, which you can learn more about via Winterbourne Wonderland’s socials.

You can donate at Winterbourne Wonderland’s Donation Station (card or cash) by scanning QR codes at the display. And don’t forget to bring a coin to make a wish at the wishing well! Alternatively, you can also donate online here

You can find Winterbourne Wonderland at 102 Down Road, Winterbourne Down, BS36 1DG.
