A welding influencer in Higher Walton and a garden furniture business in Whitestake are just two businesses supporting St Catherine’s Hospice Christmas Challenge.

The hospice is asking businesses, schools and community groups to help raise £40,000 to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

Funds donated will help the hospice carry out its key mission – to provide support to patients and their families to enable them to have quality of life until the end of their life.

He said: “I know so many people who have been a patient at St Catherine’s, including some family members so I know how good the care is.

“It’s next level, and I wanted to give back and raise as much money as I can. I’ve joined the Just Giving page and regularly share it on my socials and I’m proud to say as a business we’ve already raised around £2,500 so far.”

Baz is joined by Duxbury’s Garden Furniture in Whitestake, who have already raised £1,972 in a single day, selling end-of-line stock to support the cause.

Lynn Kelly, chief executive at St Catherine’s Hospice said: “Christmas is a difficult time for some of our families and these funds ensure we can not only care for patients and their families, but also help with grief counselling, complementary therapies and even patients gifts on Christmas day.

“We are extremely grateful to our local business community that continue to support us but we are asking for more to sign up to our Christmas Challenge in this very special year!

“Fundraising can really bring teams together and help build the festive feelgood factor in workplaces, you can even get your suppliers and customers involved. Ideas include a festive quiz, Christmas jumper day, Xmas bake off or an unwanted gift raffle. We’ve even set up a page so you can join the festive fundraising and see how you’re doing on our Challenge leaderboard.”
