Winn Group has delivered some early festive cheer to families across the North East with a fresh round of donations to local charities and community projects, as part of its commitment to give £100,000 to good causes throughout 2025.

The Newcastle-based accident management and legal services company has recently provided funding to three organisations: St Martin’s Centre, Ouseburn Farm, and the Percy Hedley Foundation, to help them deliver vital support to children, families, and vulnerable adults across the region.

Helping families this Christmas

Winn Group has donated £3,000 to help St Martin’s Centre in Byker deliver Christmas food and gift hampers to families living in deprivation. Around 60 families will receive personalised hampers this year, each filled and wrapped by volunteers to make sure no child wakes up on Christmas morning without a gift.

A further £2,150 donation from Winn Group will fund school holiday activities for the remainder of the school year, including a travelling pantomime, bus trips, and healthy eating classes, helping children and parents enjoy shared experiences that would otherwise be out of reach.

Suzanne Wellington, St Martin’s Centre CEO, said:

“The hampers make a massive difference to the children’s experience of Christmas and providing a gift can be the difference between a child waking up with something under the tree or waking up with nothing. It’s wonderful to know local businesses like Winn Group care enough to help make that difference.”

Winn Group has also donated £10,000 to Ouseburn Farm to fund the creation of a new aviary, forming part of the farm’s ornithology programme which engages young people with nature.

Ouseburn Farm Manager Katie Bates said:

“Ouseburn Farm is so thankful to the generous people at Winn Group for their gift.   The aviary will provide a permanent space for learning and connection with nature, where participants can gain practical experience caring for birds and exploring local wildlife.”

Meanwhile, a further £10,000 donation to the Percy Hedley Foundation will introduce a dedicated music therapy programme at Northern Counties School in partnership with Nordoff and Robbins, the UK’s largest music therapy charity.

Head Teacher Martin Lonergan said:

“We are incredibly grateful for the generous support from Winn Group, which has made it possible for us to integrate a dedicated music therapy programme into our learning provision. The impact on our students’ wellbeing, confidence, and communication will be truly transformative.”

Chris Birkett, Winn Group Chief Executive Officer, said:

“As we go from strength to strength in our industry Winn Group is proud to share that success with the local community.

“We know and respect our roots and have consistently sought to give back to those less fortunate and enhance the area where our offices are based. As a focal point in the community, we will do all we can to improve local facilities and provide direct support to children living in situations of deprivation or those affected by other social factors beyond their control.

“We’re proud to be from the North East, and our CSR activities demonstrate our commitment to helping others in the region who need it.”
