Body of man pulled from canal in Adlington believed to be missing Christopher Hudson

The body of a man in his 70s was discovered in a stretch of canal in Adlington, police have confirmed.

Police were called to the canal off Westhoughton Road in Adlington at around 2.30pm on Saturday (13 December) to reports that the body had been discovered.

Police believe the body to be that of missing man Christopher Hudson and have spoken to his family.

Christopher, 78, known locally as John was reported missing on 3 December and had links to Lytham, St Annes, Blackpool and Chorley.

His death is not being treated as suspicious and will be referred to HM Coroner.

A spokesperson for police said: “Our thoughts are with everyone who knew Christopher at this extremely distressing time.”
