In a heart-warming show of community spirit, Blues and Twos staff have chosen to forgo their traditional Secret Santa gift exchange this year, instead pooling their funds to support a nearby women’s refuge.

Rather than buying small gifts for colleagues, they decided to donate the full amount toward essential items for women in need.

With combined contributions, the team purchased sanitary products, toiletries, and a selection of thoughtful gifts to be distributed over the holiday season.

For the fourth year running, this idea came from a desire to make a meaningful difference during a time of year that can be especially challenging for vulnerable women.

Vicky Harrison, chief executive of the Hutton-based credit union, praised the team for choosing generosity over tradition.

She said: “We realised that the money we normally spend on novelty gifts could have a far greater impact elsewhere. The donated items were delivered to the charity last week where volunteers expressed their gratitude.”

As well as giving to local women’s charity, Blues and Twos Credit Union also brought smiles to the faces of young patients at Royal Preston Hospital’s Children’s Ward by donating a generous number of selection boxes.

This thoughtful gesture not only brightened the day for the children but also demonstrated the credit union’s commitment to supporting the local community.

The donation was warmly received by the hospital staff and patients.

Marketing Officer Margaret delivered the selection boxes to the children’s ward and said: “It was lovely to meet the staff who greatly appreciated the donation and were extremely happy with the kind gesture.”
