Poland has signed a multi-billion euro contract to develop domestic capacity for manufacturing precision-guided rockets for its HOMAR-K multiple rocket launcher program, the state-run Armament Agency said Monday.
The 14 billion złoty (€3.3 billion) deal, which expands on a series of major defense contracts with Warsaw’s South Korean partners, covers the delivery of 239-mm CGR-080 precision-guided rockets with a range of 80 kilometers.
The missiles will be produced in a newly-built facility in Poland starting in 2030 by a consortium led by Polish-Korean joint-venture Hanwha WB Advanced System together with Korea’s Hanwha Aerospace.
The deal is the third in a sequence linked to the HOMAR-K program. The first contract, signed in November 2022, covered the supply of 218 Korean K239 Chunmoo launcher modules, along with their integration onto the Polish-made Jelcz truck chassis. The pact also included logistics and training packages, a stock of missiles (including larger 607-mm tactical weapons with a range of 290 km) and technical support.
The second contract, signed in April 2024, provided for 72 additional launcher modules, logistics and training, integration work, more missiles and further technical support.
Poland has earmarked 4.8 percent of its GDP for defense spending in 2026, making it NATO’s top spender relative to the size of its economy.

The Ministry of Power received a direction from President Bola Tinubu on Monday to take severe action against saboteurs who are attempting to undermine the nation's efforts to increase power supply by damaging its facilities.

During his business visit to Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, Minister of Power Bayo Adelabu, while conducting an inspection of the Ayede sub-regional station, warned disclosed that the ministry had gotten the backing of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to deal decisively with vandals across the country.

He further disclosed that he will implement an incentive program for power plants, with prizes going to the top three.

The minister said, “We must live up to expectations. We will not relent until we achieve improvement in power supply. We are working with everyone to protect national assets. We are working with the NSA for adequate protection of power facilities. We can see the saboteurs at work.

“Some people are not happy that we are improving supply, but we cannot be intimidated. They will meet us there. We have the support of the President and the National Security Adviser to deal with saboteurs who are poised to vandalise the nation’s installations, and destroy its power distribution activities.

“Whatever we can do to improve your people’s welfare to improve on your job, I will do. We are going to implement whatever good suggestions you bring to our attention. Good performance will be rewarded, but more reward means more work.”

Around it, finely engraved scales give the appearance of textured dinosaur skin. According to the Mint, the design imagines what the animal might have seen as it roamed the Cretaceous landscape in a scene filled with other dinosaurs and swampy Canadian forests.

The species depicted, Thanatotheristes, lived roughly 79.5 million years ago and is considered Canada's oldest known tyrannosaur. It could grow up to 10 metres long and weigh as much as 2.5 tonnes.

The obverse of the coin features King Charles III, designed by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
