For the past six years, Rachelle Callaghan has run a Christmas appeal under her Facebook Page – The Undertaker Mum to help children who otherwise wouldn’t have a gift to open on Christmas morning.
Rachelle receives the gender and age of each child and supplies a gift and food parcel for their family, with the help of her amazing supporters.
Rachelle said: “The support from people in the area is amazing; they do all they can to help people they’ve never met before to ensure they have a brighter Christmas than they would otherwise have.”

This year Rachelle is seeing 350 individual gifts to go out to children in the area, food parcels to all of their families, gifts to local nursing home residents and gifts will be heading to the children’s ward at RPH for children to open throughout December.

Rachelle said: “The big effort this year is new books, last year I was thrilled to be able to donate 300 new reading books to children in Preston, after finding out that one in ten children don’t own a book of their own at home.”
Rachelle’s goal is to gift books to 1,000 children, she said: “I’ve currently got just over 300 donated, with a further 200 pledged so far so I’m halfway there.
“I’m immensely grateful to everyone who donates. I’m a Mum of 3, I work full time as an undertaker, and do this in the very little spare time I have. I don’t get paid for it, and I wouldn’t want to, knowing that children get a gift to open in Christmas morning is worth more than anything!”
Help Rachelle hit her goal of 1,000 books and ensure every child has a gift this Christmas by visiting her Facebook page.
