Since then, barring the pandemic, the Cherry and Whites rugby club has made a December visit each year.
Noah Hodkinson, Dayon Sambou and Finley Yeomans joined patients and staff on the wards.

Sue Swire, fundraising manager for Rosemere Cancer Foundation, said: “Thanks again to Wigan Warriors for taking the time out to visit the Ribblesdale Ward. The patients and staff really appreciate it, particularly at this time of year.
“It helps lift everyone’s spirits and Warriors full back Noah Hodkinson summed up the spirit of the visit saying it’s always good to give back to the community.
“Wigan have been doing this for a while, visiting hospitals and schools, and we try and come in and brighten people’s day up. It was good to see some Wigan fans on the ward as well.”
